Volunteers needed for trail and garden restoration, and other projects
Trail Restoration
Thursday, November 8th, 9AM - Noon
Please join us and trail experts from the City of Raleigh Parks Staff as we help with trail maintenance at Joslin Garden. This property has numerous trails running through its unique gardens, that we need to restore after the rainy weather this fall.
Important - Please use this link (below) to sign up for trail restoration:
Volunteer Duties: We will be using pitchforks, wheelbarrows and hard rakes to spread wood chips along the trails. We may also collect sticks and fallen branches to better define some areas of the trails.
Volunteer Requirements: You must be at least 12 years old to volunteer. If under 15, then a parent or guardian will need to register to volunteer with you. All trail volunteers will need to complete a volunteer release form that will be sent to you after you sign up through the link.
Book Archiving & Cataloging the Joslin Library
We will also be meeting on alternating Tuesday mornings to catalog and archive the books in the Joslin House library.
We will meet at 9:30AM - 11:30AM on the following Tuesdays:
Tuesday, October 16th
Tuesday, October 30th
Tuesday, November 13th
Tuesday, November 27th
Please RSVP if you are interested in helping so that we can have enough materials prepared: info@cityofoaksfoundation.org. Volunteers who can bring their own your laptop computer with Microsoft Excel can save us a lot of work entering information directly into the library records, but this is not required.
The Joslin House is located at 2431 W. Lake Drive. Please park along the street so as not to block other volunteers in the driveway.
Do you have a green thumb? We are preparing to plant the winter garden for Logan's Plant a Row for the Hungry Program. If you are interested in helping tend the garden, either in a group or on your own time, please let us know! RSVP at: info@cityofoaksfoundation.org.
