Grades 6-8: Join the Neighborhood Ecology Corps!

Join the Neighborhood Ecology Corps

The City of Oaks Foundation, through its Conservation Explorers program, supports the Neighborhood Ecology Corps (NEC) and is looking for students entering grades 6-8 to apply for the 2021-2022 Neighborhood Ecology Corps class!

The Neighborhood Ecology Corps (NEC) is a free program focused on exploring nature and the community in order to develop environmentally literate citizens. The year begins with the Summer Immersion Program: a weeklong day camp August 9-13, 2021 that fosters community within the NEC cohort. Throughout the school year, participants will meet weekly from 4-5:30pm at Walnut Creek Wetland Park.

Through the Neighborhood Ecology Corps, students will have the opportunity to engage in outdoor excursions, journaling, environmental stewardship, and learn about education and career opportunities. Students will receive a $200 stipend upon the completion of their first year and may elect to continue into a 2- or 3-year program.
